- Introduction
This CNC controlled drilling system is the highest capacity machine for drilling steel beams. With its 3 drilling units it is possible to drill profiles simultaneous vertically as well as horizontally. This system is the top level machine out of the drilling range. The most advanced, the highest capacity and the most efficient.M or T? For measuring the material, the machine can be equipped with feeder rolls (M) or with a feeder truck (T).

Measuring system
The V630 drilling system is available with two measuring systems. The V630M is executed with a machine integrated feeder roll positioning system. The V630T is executed with a feeder truck with a hydraulic gripper. The Voortman gripper can clamp various types of profiles without manual setting. By adding an automatic unloading system for short products and off cuts a combined drilling and sawing system can produce automatically for longer periods.

High speed positioning
All the axes of the drilling machine are driven by high accuracy ball screws and servo motors, so very fast positioning speeds are achieved .
Operations
Apart from drilling with HSS and carbide, this system is also suitable for automatic thread tapping, centre point marking, counter sinking, deburring and scribing.
Carbide drilling
Due to the servo-controlled motor on the drilling head, it is also possible to use carbide drills, which can drill up to 4 times faster then regular HSS. Also with carbide drills there is no need for sharpening, simply replace the carbide tip.
Drill length measuring
Instead of calculating the drill length by slowly pressing the tip of the drill against the material, the length of the drill is measured by laser before approaching the material. This enables a very fast approach of the drill to the material, and is only carried out when using a new drill for the first time.
Automatic tool changer
Each drilling unit is equipped as standard with an automatic tool changer fitted with a booster system for extra fast changing, the tool changer enables the system to work independently for long periods.
Software
The software program “VACAM-Machine Edition” is installed on the control system. The control system can be integrated in the company’s network, so that DSTV- and DSTV+-data can be directly downloaded, from system files within the company database, to the drilling system. With this VACAM software it is possible to carry out different processes simultaneously, so each drill head on this machine can drill, change tools or measure the length of the tool independently.
Combining with other systems for increased production capacity
All drilling systems can be combined with a horizontal band sawing machine from the VB-range and a hydraulic numbering machine. For an increased production capacity the sawing system and drilling system can be split into separate connected lines. After sawing, the profiles will be transported with cross transports into the drilling system automatically. For further automation of the pre-fabrication process a Voortman shot blaster can be added to the production line. Therefore one operator can centrally control all these machines for drilling, sawing and shot blasting.

Drill sharpening unit
This drill sharpener is suitable for sharpening of HSS twist drills from 2 up 40mm. The drill sharpener comes with a precision 6-jaws chuck, Morse cones and several grinding wheels.Horizontal (mitre) cutting band saw machine
By adding a mitre cutting bandsawing machine to the processing line, the system becomes very flexible. In the delivery program of Voortman are four types of sawing machines; these machines can also be delivered individually.Shot Blaster
For further automation of the pre-fabrication a Voortman shot blaster can be added to the production line. The shot blasters can also be delivered as a stand-alone system.- Software
In VACAM, production data can be in- and exported in the format of DStV(+).
Besides the comfort of a Windows based environment VACAM has the advantage that authorized persons at all times can retrieve real-time information about the production progress. This can be done through an on-screen in-motion presentation of the system.
For a more detailed report the Production Data Exporter module can be used. This module allows real-time fabrication information sharing. In any case all operations and motions performed on the system are stored for sharing with any ERP, MRP, MIS and BIM software systems.
