Introduction

Split drilling and cuttingFor high volume plate processing companies, Voortman developed this unique split configurated gantry system. Working with two separate gantries allows simultaneous drilling and cutting which guarantees a 40% higher output compared to the combined systems. Using the possibility of the two gantries to cooperate with each other, plate handling between the two processes is done automatically.

Plate handling

By loading the first raw plate onto the drilling zone, the drilling gantry starts drilling the holes. After finishing the complete drilling pattern, both gantries start working together and bring the plate to the cutting table. For this the both gantries are equipped with magnetic lifts. After releasing the plate, the drilling gantry moves back to the drilling table, while at the same time the cutting gantry starts. During this dual operation of the gantries, a new raw plate can be loaded on the drilling table. This results in simultaneous cutting and drilling. Various solutions for automatic unloading, stocking and stacking for further processing are available.

Cutting /drilling

  • 25 position tool changer for high automation.
  • Fast drilling process by using carbide tipped drills.
  • Possibilities for countersinking, deburring and thread tapping.
  • By using both oxygen and plasma the advantages of both processes can be used.

Software

  • With the Voortman controls and VACAM software, nesting is available for reducing waste and optimum operations sequence
  • Various projects can be nested to achieve full use of one thickness of raw plate in order to reduce handling time
  • With the VACAM Machine and Office Edition online and offline programming/ nesting is available.
  • VACAM enables data sharing with any ERP/MIS systems.

Software

In VACAM, production data can be in- and exported in the format of DStV(+).

Besides the comfort of a Windows based environment VACAM has the advantage that authorized persons at all times can retrieve real-time information about the production progress. This can be done through an on-screen in-motion presentation of the system.

For a more detailed report the Production Data Exporter module can be used. This module allows real-time fabrication information sharing. In any case all operations and motions performed on the system are stored for sharing with any ERP, MRP, MIS and BIM software systems.
