With several large reference projects, for example CSM Suiker Unie and Akzo Nobel, Staalbouw Smid Hoogkerk (SSH) is, for sure, not a small steel fabricator in The Netherlands! With 55 employees this Dutch company handles projects in various areas including industrial, marine- and utility construction. SSH has over one hundred years of experience with steel fabrication and has a long history with lots of expansions and innovations.
Recently another important decision had to be made; to automate their factory or subcontract the drilling, sawing, punching and shearing of steel. Subcontracting would keep the organizational costs flexible, but SSH opted for new flexible production machinery with as much latest technical innovation as possible.
SSH invested in a Voortman V613 drilling and sawing system with a rotating drilling unit, a V550-4 punching and shearing line and a V70 numbering unit. Mr. Smid: "On the basis of technical know how, image and good references Voortman convinced us of the quality and reliability of their machinery and organization."
With this Voortman machinery, SSH keeps technical knowledge and skills within their own organization, and besides that, they keep in complete control of the quality of their own final product.
