Marc Mahieu founded Mahieu Metaalbouw in 1989. Specialist engineers design the constructions to the specific requirements of the client all to current European standards. The workshop-personnel take quality as being paramount, coupled with the continuous inspection of all the fabrication. To carry out all the activities quickly and efficiently, Mahieu invest more and more in the latest high technology equipment to cope with the ever-increasing workloads.
“Since the amount of the processed material increases every year, we could not achieve the necessary capacity with our existing machines and we had to sub-contract work outside”, says Kris van Hulle workshop manager at Mahieu Metaalbouw.
Van Hulle: “The Voortman V550 punching/shearing line was a first step in the right direction. We bought this machine in 2005 to replace an obsolete punching/ shearing line.” In February 2006 Mahieu installed a Voortman V603 drilling/sawing system. With the help of a CAD-drawing program, both machines are controlled online by wireless communication; this minimises the risk of programming mistakes.
Van Hulle: “We have chosen the Voortman punching/ shearing line because the price and quality is the best in comparison with other manufacturers systems. This assumption was reconfirmed when we bought the drilling/sawing line. We are convinced that we, with both machines which are the most important in our workshop, are prepared for the future in which efficiency gets more and more important.”
