Productivity

High speed processing

The Voortman V550-7 flat and angle processing machine is more productive than any CNC machine in its range. Production speeds drastically improve with high performance hydraulics and a robust, high speed gripper truck. VACAM control software reduces scrap by automatically optimizing the cutting sequence, checking material length and nesting on the fly. Processes are closely matched to limit the time operators are waiting. Servo-controlled components and the machine’s powerful hydraulic systems optimize production cycles without sacrificing accuracy.

Automation

Automatic die selection to reduce manual changing

The V550-7 is equipped with stations for 13 dies in a rotational holder with up to 7 vertical punches. This provides processing capabilities for a wide range of thicknesses without needing additional punch and die changes. The fast and accurate servo-driven carousel is synchronized with the vertical punches for maximum speed punching. The V550-7 also adds drilling function for processes like drilling, thread-tapping, layout marking, part identification and countersinking.

Productivity

Increased speed with hydraulic numbering

A hydraulic part numbering unit comes standard with the V550-7. The circular disc greatly accelerates the numbering and layout marking process with its ability to stamp 36 different characters on the under side of profiles, leaving only layout marking to the scribing tool.

Automation

Automatic material buffering - no manual intervention

The V550-7 can process flat and angle profiles up to 15 m (50’) without any manual intervention. VACAM control software automatically monitors the active buffer system, securing a priority position for your first profile to be processed while buffering the subsequent profiles. By allowing the system to continuously move profiles towards the roller conveyor and gripper truck, new batches can be loaded and started on the V550-7 in no time. This significantly reduces production times and increases overall efficiency.

Productivity

Rapidly process various stock lengths

The V550-7 flat and angle processing machine is equipped with additional sensors at the infeed to painlessly process various material lengths at maximum output. The sensors in the cross-transport and gripper truck automatically identify the profile’s location and length, so higher approach speeds are possible. Profile lengths can vary from 6 m (20’) up to 15 m (50’) without affecting production times.

Automation

Optimized angle line processing

Increase your capabilities in angle line processing with a wider operating range for vertical punches on the V550-7. Up to three different punch diameters can be used without any manual tool changing during angle processing. The extended range allows the punches to process profile widths up to 200 mm (8”). Delays for manual tool changing and machine downtime is reduced to a minimum with Voortman’s extra vertical punching versatility.

Efficient material sorting

Automation

The V550-7 can be equipped with an efficient sorting system to provide more efficient nesting of products from different projects in full flat/angle stock lengths with minimal waste. Products are seamlessly and automatically assigned to one of the 13 sorting bins based on project, phase number, material thickness, etc.

High quality

High quality processing

The robust V550-7 flat and angle machine is designed for producing high quality products with a variety of process applications needed. When punching holes in material 25 mm (1”) or thicker, the machine really shows its true power and potential. It’s fully decoupled modular construction absorbs process vibrations into the foundation and away from influencing other modules or the processing area. High quality results are guaranteed whether you’re processing a 50 mm (2”) angle or a 500 mm (19-7/8”) steel flat bar.

User-friendly

Reduced noise

The V550-7 is equipped with an advance hydraulic system with separated high and low pressure systems for smooth processing. The hydraulic system was designed to be a major benefit to the overall performance and ergonomics of the V550-7, reducing noise during processing.

Productivity

Variable speed and feed rate when drilling

When projects require drilling instead of punching, the V550-7 can be equipped with a robust drill spindle providing various speed and feed rates for all types of tooling. The spindle was developed in close collaboration with a team of specialists with knowledge of processes and markets so it can achieve two main goals customers can expect for flat and angle processing – performance and reliability.

User-friendly

Easy tool changing increases efficiency

Large tool changers for automatic punch, die, and drilling tool selection increase the efficiency of the V550-7 flat and angle processing machine. Daily production usually requires changing tools, so the punch and drill holders are positioned in a way that allows operators easy access to the tools. The “form fits function” clean design of the Voortman V550-7 focuses on minimum set up and idle time when manually changing tools.

Automation

Automatic material detection to prevent errors

After loading stock material on the infeed cross transport, sensors detect the material and buffering is started with automated material handling. Operators can continue to load and unload the machine without interrupting the production process. The V550-7 is equipped with an additional width measurement device to make sure profiles on the infeed correspond with the batch selected for processing in VACAM control software, alerting your operator to the issue and preventing mismatches.

User-friendly

Safe working environment

The V550-7 flat and angle machine comes standard with CE-certified safety in and around the machine. The safety fences restrict the access to certain areas where the operators don’t need to go, and the light curtains will detect people going in areas with moving machine parts, shutting them down when necessary. Light curtains also separate the load- and unload zones of in- and outfeed cross-transports from the machine zone. The V550-7 continues processing while loading and unloading profiles. The V550-7 also conforms to other local safety codes when CE is not required.

Features
and processes

Punching

Punching which is by far the cheapest and fastest process to create holes has a distinctive character compared to milling, drilling and cutting. Punching is allowed for most projects within certain boundaries and if your production parts show relatively little variation in thicknesses, hole sizes, shapes and material types, punching will likely be the most preferable process. Voortman punching machines have tool holders with multiple punches and dies, which increases versatility and hole quality and reduces your downtime due to tool changes.

Shearing

Shearing is compared to thermal cutting and sawing the fastest of the three processes offered by Voortman for trimming profiles and is only available on Flat & Angle processing machines. Where punching is the cheapest and fastest process for hole making, the same applies to shearing with regards to trimming profiles. In combination with a deburring machine, perfect results can be achieved and with or without post-processing, the surface created by shearing is acceptable for many applications.

Drilling, tapping, sinking

The main advantage of drilling is processing high quality holes in a diverse range of hole diameters and material thicknesses. To create bolted connections and to remove sharp edges of a drilled hole, thread-tapping and countersinking can be performed in one single process cycle. With automatic tool changing of carbide (tipped) drills, solid carbide drills, HSS drills, thread-taps, countersink and marking tools, manual labor is reduced and further processing simplified.

Numbering

Numbering relieves your operators from writing down numbers and codes manually. This saves you a significant amount of time and costs. Numbering means processing numbers or codes on a product for further processing. It increases traceability of your parts making your production less prone to errors.

Centerpoint marking

Centerpoint marking provides you guidance during further processing like welding. It is the easiest and fastest way to mark your product and saves you time and costs. Centerpoints can also be used to mark where operations should be executed which are beyond the machine's limitations. The centerpoint marking process creates very small drilled dots, executed by the drilling unit on this machine.

Marking by milling

Manual layout marking is time-consuming, labor intensive and error-prone. This machine automates the marking process and prevents human errors during further processing. Marking by milling creates high quality and accurate marks which remain visible even after shot blasting, painting or galvanizing. The milling depth can be adjusted with our own Voortman marking tool.

VACAM Machine

Every machine is equipped with our in-house developed VACAM control software. All machines share the same “look-and-feel” which significantly reduces your learning curve.
