Voortman introduces a new inkjet marking unit for plate processing operations

Voortman Steel Machinery developed a new inkjet marking unit to enable faster marking possibilities for the Voortman V304 and future plate processing systems. The inkjet marking unit is able to mark lines, texts and layout. It is designed to operate with the greatest accuracy, to guarantee high quality markings.

New Voortman 3D plasma bevel unit

The new Voortman 3D plasma bevel unit is designed in a way that the gas valves are as near as possible to the end process (plasma arc). These gas valves also control the gas flow during the ramp down cycle of the plasma torch (end of cut). The further the gas valves are from the end process, the harder it is to control the gas specifically at this point. This will result for instance in a longer post flow and larger deviations in the gas flow. These larger deviations will then again result in a decrease of consumable life. Voortman optimized the ramp down by bringing the gas valves as near as possible to the end process which extends consumable lifetime.

Reduce positioning time with the Voortman Height Control

With the new Voortman Height Control (VHC) Voortman developed the fastest height control in the market. Together with optimized cut to cut paths, positioning times have been reduced to a minimum. The VHC has a speed of 365 mm/s and an acceleration of 2000 mm/s2 which is unmatched in today’s market. Because a perfect height is one of the main pillars for a perfect cut the Voortman Height control is equipped with a servo, combined with a ball screw spindle. High accuracy and positioning speeds are therefore guaranteed.

Poland is ready to invest in steel processing

Poland is currently Europe’s number one in terms of economic growth. For Polish steel fabricators, service centers and other steel related industries this is the moment for output maximization to benefit these promising times. Voortman recently hosted a two day event to inform 85 polish fabricators how to increase production, save man-hours and reduce costs.

France and Maghreb fabricators experienced the future of automation in steel processing

On the 15th and 16th of April 2015, Voortman has taken the stage to present the future of automation in steel processing to steel fabricators and steel service centers from France and the Maghreb. Of course suppliers, branch organizations and other steel related interested parties from these countries were also more than welcome.

Voortman will be demonstrating how fabricators can reduce material handling costs and remove labor from the fabrication process through automatic material handling and unmanned machinery.

New innovation ‘Dross inhibitor’ improves cutting quality

Slag formation during piercing is a common problem when cutting with plasma. The blast from piercing the material creates a volcanic effect which blows molten metal over the material. This creates small puddles of slag on top of the material. When the cutting is done, the slag needs to be removed manually which extends the total processing time. The slag can also influence the cutting quality when it covers the cutting path.

Automatic 3D bevel torch calibration speeds up your process

In general torches are equipped with 3D collision protection to prevent damage caused by a collision. Setting a straight torch back in position manually after a collision is not a big problem. With a collided 3D bevel torch it is a problem because it affects the cutting quality when it is not calibrated correctly afterwards.
