Why was this expansion necessary?
Ben Morrall: “North America has been one of our fastest-growing and most important markets for years. As demand continued to rise, it became clear that we needed to invest locally. Not just to keep up, but to stay ahead.”
Proximity is key. “This facility allows us to be closer to our customers, respond faster, and offer a stronger level of service,” he explains. “It’s about building a foundation that supports long-term growth while delivering immediate value.”

What were the key decisions behind choosing this location?
“Location was critical,” Ben says. “Voortman USA has resided in Monee, IL for the past 10 years. Its central location offers a strong logistal advantage. It sits near major highways, including I-57 and I-80. Being close to Chicago provides access to a skilled workforce. It also offers nearby colleges for recruiting and training new talent. In addition, the area provides plenty of room for future growth.”
What does this facility enable that wasn’t possible before?
“The biggest shift is that we’re bringing more activities in-house in the United States. That includes machine assembly, a training facility and additional parts- and consumable storage. This allows us to streamline operations and improve lead times. It also strengthens our supply chain and gives us more control over quality and delivery.”

Our approach is to combine global expertise with strong local execution. By doing so, we can support customers more effectively and help them grow, automate, and stay competitive.”
What does this mean for customers in North America?
“It means we are closer, faster, and more responsive. Customers will notice improvements in delivery times and service levels. But it also shows commitment. We are investing in the region for the long term and working alongside our customers as partners.”

The first machines are already being assembled. What does that moment represent?
“It’s a proud moment for the entire team.” Ben smiles: “a lot of work went into making this possible. Seeing machines being assembled here brings everything together. It shows that the vision is becoming reality and that we are ready for the next step.”
What are the goals for the coming years?
“Our goal is to continue growing, both in capacity and in capabilities. We want to keep improving how we support our customers.
At the same time, this facility will become an important hub for collaboration, innovation, and customer engagement. It’s a place where we build solutions together and shape the future of steel processing and fabrication.”
