THE STORY
Growth
Alstate Steel began business in 1996 and was started by CEO Jeff Wallis. Over the last 14 years, Alstate Steel has grown from a local steel fabricator to a leading provider of complete turn-key steel construction services in the Southwest with projects that expand into the surrounding states. In the spring of 2007, Jeff expanded the operation by building a complete new fabrication facility.
Alstate Steel now operates in two facilities that are adjacent to each other with the newer of the two buildings being the location of the most recent Voortman investment.
In June 2010 the latest Voortman V613 / VB1050 high speed drilling and sawing system with fully automatic load and unload material handling was installed to increase the production capabilities to enable Alstate Steel to continue to grow and still have spare capacity.
Most impressed with Voortman equipment
Only a few years ago Alstate Steel was fabricating approximately 50 tons of steel per week and their existing beam processing line had become a bottleneck. Alstate Steel then took a hard look at all suppliers to the industry and states: "We were most impressed with the advanced technology, automation and performance of the Voortman equipment. Our decision has now been endorsed in the time we have had the machine as we recently fabricated 450 tons in 9 days with the same labor force."
Voortmans service is second to none!
"Our previous experience with fabrication equipment suppliers had been that the after sales support and service was a problematic area. The Voortman service team was onsite when the machine arrived and completed the installation and training. We have had excellent support from the Voortman service team when we had questions and the backup has been second to none from the Chicago based operation.
The remote diagnostics capability along with the technician’s knowledge proves that we made the right choice regarding the investment in the Voortman equipment."
