Bect SAS - A real family business
BECT SAS was founded in France in 1974 and is a family business which has been growing for more than 40 years. The company specializes in the complete execution of steel structures: from design through production to assembly. Their steel structures are used for commercial- and industrial steel buildings.
Stay competitive in the market
Since the 2008 crisis BECT SAS had to drop prices in order to stay competitive in the market. The hours per ton were high and they had to decrease it. Another thing they had to deal with was meeting European norms. BECT SAS wanted to reduce costs and invested in a saw-drill line with a V630M beam drilling machine with layout marking coupled with a VB1050 saw with infeed and outfeed cross transports. This line delivers the beam directly to the welding and assembly stations. They currently have a 7000m2 workshop with an area for processing beams and tubes with the Voortman beam line. Alongside they have a plate cutting area and an assembly department, consisting of 10 welding stations, a painting booth and an angle and bending section.
Increased productivity and reliability
Mr. Bect: “The deciding factor for this B2B beam line is that we buy 80% of our stock steel in profiles already cut to length. We chose the roller-feed system because it is very fast and ideal for our type of production. The main advantage compared to our previous workshop layout is that we have grown productivity by 25%. Reduced costs
In terms of labor for the new machine and new organization, BECT SAS has saved 2 operators which is important to reduce costs. Their number of man-hours has been significantly reduces and they have not had any breakdowns.
