THE STORY
Continuous growth
Bilim Makina was established in 1990 by Mr. Cemal Bilim. The company experienced continuous growth with respect to physical facilities and technical capability. Now on 20.000 m2 closed area and over 1.000 employees, it is the predominant engineering and production company, serving the cement industry in Turkey and abroad.
Voortman: Second to none
Managing Director of Bilim Makina, Mr. Emre Bilim, thought about a way to increase the accuracy of the production of structural steel, to increase production speed and to decrease labor costs. In 2011 he decided to invest in CNC controlled machines. In his decision period he was informed about the good reputation of Voortman. Mr. Emre Bilim: "Voortman's local dealer Bali Makina with contact person Mr. Mustafa Önen had tight contact and follow up with us, so communication went very easy and fast. I was told that Voortman installed multiple systems in the Turkish market and that their clients were satisfied about the machines, service and spare part availability. At this point I had a strong preference for the Dutch brand."
Drilling and sawing of profiles and plates
For drilling their profiles, Bilim Makina eventually chose to invest in the V630 drilling system with three drilling units. In this way profiles are drilled in a very fast way. Bilim: "The five-fold tool changer for every drilling head really is a huge advantage."
"To saw our profiles up to a width of 1.250 mm and the possibility of miter cutting up to 60°, the VB1250 band sawing system was the right system for us. A lot of companies process profiles up to 1.000 mm wide but as we are active in a wide range of industries we need a machine that processes larger and heavier beams. The sawing system is placed right behind the drilling system in order to have the profiles drilled and cut on a small floor space."
"To drill our pre-cut connection plates we invested in the V200 plate drilling system. This compact but heavily build system is capable of carbide drilling, deburring, thread tapping and countersinking."
