THE STORY
Cermont Sp. z.o.o.
Cermont is a large steel fabricator based in Poland, operating on a large scale within Poland and Europe. Cermont produces steel structures and they are a general contractor of industrial objects as well. The company currently employs approximately 250 employees with an output of 6.000 tonnes per year.
Increased output & efficiency
Cermont invested in a back-to-back saw drill line which includes a Voortman V630 beam drilling machine and a VB1050 beam sawing machine and a stand-alone V200 plate drilling machine. Due to the large heterogeneity of their products and the amount of short elements, Cermont specifically chose to invest in a saw drill line with a gripper truck and short piece removal system. The saw drill line significantly increased their output. Mr. Cieślik: “These elements processed manually takes 8 hours. And now with this machine we are able to do it within an hour. Production has become much more efficient, more predictable and error free.”
Disproportions that occurred between the assembly department and the production department are also eliminated by the new saw drill line. Mr. Cieślik: “In the past the fitters were waiting for the prepared material to be able to tack weld. At this point the situation has reversed. The production is so efficient and fast that finished processed material is now waiting for assembling.”
Reduced costs
Cermont experiences large cost reductions due to their new installed machines. Their number of man-hours has been significantly reduced and the percentage of errors during production as well, because of the fact that the human factor in their factory has been minimized.
