THE STORY
Quality Iron Fabricators
Quality Iron Fabricators was originally founded in Memphis, Tennessee in 1974 as a miscellaneous steel fabricator serving the local market. Quality Iron of Louisiana opened in April of 2011 as part of a controlled growth strategy of the company. Businesses quickly accelerated in Louisiana so plans were formed to build a state of the art fabrication facility. Property was purchased in Livingston Parish in November of 2011 and phase one of a 40,000 square foot plant was broken ground on April 19th of 2012. Quality Iron of Louisiana is a specialized fabricator of structural and miscellaneous steel of major commercial and industrial projects.
Impressed by the machine integration
President Brian Eason tells about his Voortman equipment with great enthusiasm. Quality Iron invested in a V630 beam drilling machine, a VB1250 beam sawing machine, a robotic coper and a V505-160M angle line.
"We chose Voortman not only because of the individual machines and their abilities but also the complete integration that those machines offer." The VB1250 sawing machine is integrated in one machine line, communicating with the V630 beam drilling machine. After the beams are drilled, the beams are automatically being transferred to the robotic coper. One of the big things that impressed Qualtiy Iron was the integration of all these machines. According to Brian Eason: "I walked into the shop the other day and the drill line was drilling, the saw was sawing and they completed their operations. I turned to my partner and said: “Do you notice anything? There is no one in the building! No one was at the saw, no one was at the drill line and all the equipment was running on its own!"
Plate processing machine
At the other Quality Iron facility, one of the big production pieces of equipment is the V320 plate processing machine. It can drill holes, it can burn holes with the Hypertherm plasma and you can scribe and mark. "It is a piece that is really payed for itself in a very short period of time".
