DEMO - Fabricator: Work Preparation

Watch the demo video or continue reading to learn how the work preparation for the Fabricator works.

The first step of the fabrication process is acquiring the right BIM files for your software of choice, for example Tekla or SDS2. Thanks to the seamless integration with LogicSteel CAD/CAM software, this step is quick and straightforward. You simply export the BIM files to the LogicSteel Cloud with two clicks: one for the extension panel and one for the export button.

During the export process, CADCAM will automatically run a doability check. Using all available model data, it will automatically assess your model based on dimensions and material and present it to you in a clear overview.

In this overview, you can immediately see which parts are fully doable by the Fabricator, which are not, and which assemblies are only partially doable. For partially doable assemblies, CAD/CAM clearly indicates which welds or operations fall outside the scope of automation. This allows you to plan ahead and allocate those tasks to manual welding where needed.

Also, during export, CADCAM will check the model for potential issues. For example incomplete welds, overlapping welds, clashing welds, or even missing welds. If CADCAM finds any faults, it will automatically fix them.

The Fabricator is very efficient out of the box. However, by applying a small amount of standardization in your detailing, you can increase your efficiency drastically. For example, a lot of steel fabricators choose to weld connection plates to the main portals. By instead welding these plates to columns, the assemblies can often become doable for the Fabricator. This enables automated welding of standardized connections, while skilled welders can focus on more complex connections.
