On the 21th of June, the German Steel Construction Day - With Voortman on the way to Industry 4.0 took place. Voortman, Graitec and PWC together informed a curious group of visitors about the latest developments, challenges and chances of Industry 4.0.

Plasma cutting technology is not new to fabrication but the capability and performance continues to develop. Voortman now introduces the lastest in this technology: the new Hypertherm® XPR300™. Voortman offers this new technology on its entire product range that utilizes plasma cutting such as the V320, V304, V302, V330 and V808 as shown in the image below.

From the 5th till the 8th of June, Voortman exhibits at the Steel Structures 2017 exhibition in Moscow, Russia. Steel Structures is a key exhibition for the steel construction industry. Various exhibitors will exhibit on Steel Structures, with Voortman Steel Machinery as your preferred machine manufacturer.

On  March 28, Voortman organized the seminar Voortman SteelBIZ 2017. The theme of this seminar was the “Increase of productivity and efficiency in steel fabrication” focused on factories from Russia and former CIS countries. Voortman SteelBIZ took place at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Netherlands in Moscow.

Marking is used for a variety of reasons by fabricators. Fabricators mark parts for identification or for layout marking which significantly reduces the time to assemble and weld the parts together after cutting because manual marking and measuring is not necessary anymore. Marking of parts also improves the traceability of parts which becomes more and more important with new standards as the EN1090. Marking is also sometimes used to indicate where holes should be drilled.

Staalbouw Smid Hoogkerk explains: Why a Service Contract?

Founded in 1820 by Lukas Smid, Staalbouw Smid Hoogkerk has been an expert in the field of steel processing for close to 200 years. What started as a small blacksmith has grown to a prosperous steel construction company with 45 employees and a factory of 5,100 m2 (55,000 ft2). In addition to this they often hire additional workers to be able to cope with production peaks. Nowadays, the company is run by "again" Lukas Smid, the 6th generation.
