Check out what Voortman was up to at this year’s NASCC

The NASCC is the premier educational and networking event for the structural steel industry. Therefore it was the perfect stage for Voortman to spearhead technology and lead the way with automation and connectivity to achieve the ultimate “Smart Factory”.

During the NASCC we showed a preview of our next steps in automation. To embrace Industry 4.0, Voortman is developing the foundations for the Smart Factory. Industry 4.0 will bring together information and communication technology for an evolution in the supply chain and production line that brings a much higher level of automation.

A revolutionary journey to Industry 4.0

Voortman again spearheads technology with the Voortman Industry 4.0. Voortman leads the way with automation and connectivity to achieve the ultimate “Smart Factory”.

Make the first steps to connecting everything, in all the levels of the value chain. We are not talking about automation of a production line itself anymore, we are talking about automation of the whole factory. To help you secure your position as a leading enterprise, we like to share a preview of our next steps in automation.

Voortman’s V808 Robotic Thermal Cutting Machine is now more productive

To stay at the forefront of technology, we continuously keep innovating on all levels. Recently, the Voortman research and development team created the new Voortman V808 with productivity in mind. View the new real-time processing video to witness that the Voortman V808 is the most productive robotic thermal cutting machine on the market today. Productivity improvements exceeding 20% can be achieved.

Close cooperation of Voortman Steel Machinery and Tekla – Outcome of the webinar

Leach Structural Steelwork optimizes steel fabrication with Voortman Steel Machinery: “We believe the benefits of the automation, both technically and the machines, will allow us to operate with minimal personnel, with maximum output from the machine lines.” — Eric Leach, Managing Director of Leach Structural Steelwork.

Caterpillar Work Tools BV based in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands is a company with a worldwide representation of the well-known earth moving & equipment manufacturer, and develops, manufactures and markets high-quality, innovative wheel-loader and excavator attachments on an international scale.

Industry 4.0 is “the next level in automation”. This next level in automation means that everything is connected, in all the levels of the value chain. Voortman would like help you with the first steps to achieving more automation in your production process.

Marking is used for a variety of reasons by fabricators. Fabricators mark parts for identification or for layout marking which significantly reduces the time to assemble and weld the parts together after cutting because manual marking and measuring is not necessary anymore. Marking of parts also improves the traceability of parts which becomes more and more important with new standards as the EN1090. Marking is also sometimes used to indicate where holes should be drilled.

If you are visiting the FABTECH 2016 exhibition to get inspired, gain knowledge and see the newest developments on steel processing machinery, you cannot miss out on visiting the Voortman booth # C37103 at 16-18 November in Las Vegas. The FABTECH is an excellent platform for Voortman to explain about their complete solutions for structural steel fabricators, steel service centers, and manufacturers. Two must sees are the Voortman V304 plate cutting machine and the Voortman V808 robotic thermal cutting machine. Visit the Voortman booth to see live demonstrations!

The best robotic machine just got better: smaller footprint, faster processing speed while maintaining superior cut quality

Smaller footprint, faster processing speed while maintaining superior cut quality. Equipped with new features, the Voortman V808 still can do it all, but now even faster. The Voortman V808 is the market leading and most versatile robotic thermal cutting machine with 8 axes. Because of Voortman’s constant Research and Development it stays far ahead of alternative machines.

Staalbouw Smid Hoogkerk explains: Why a Service Contract?

Founded in 1820 by Lukas Smid, Staalbouw Smid Hoogkerk has been an expert in the field of steel processing for close to 200 years. What started as a small blacksmith has grown to a prosperous steel construction company with 45 employees and a factory of 5,100 m2 (55,000 ft2). In addition to this they often hire additional workers to be able to cope with production peaks. Nowadays, the company is run by "again" Lukas Smid, the 6th generation.

Webinar: Optimizing Steel Fabrication with Voortman and Tekla

Webinar: Wednesday, July 6th 2016

Model-based information combined with good machinery enables fabricators to avoid unexpected costs and delays. This turns into cost savings in each project. Join this webinar and learn how you can increase productivity in fabrication with Tekla Structures and Voortman machinery. The information-rich models provide open, readable data for manufacturing. The data can be linked to Voortman machinery using DSTV or CNC data to create accurate, high quality steel structures. This helps you to decrease material waste, reduce human errors and speed up the fabrication process.

Voortman launches very compact plate cutting machine

Finally, the moment has come: Voortman Steel Machinery introduces their very compact Voortman V302 plate cutting machine. Because of the simplicity of the Voortman V302, all steel processing companies now have access to the renowned cutting technologies the reputable quality Voortman has been known for. Functionality and performance is never sacrificed because Voortman understands what is required to complete your production task successfully.

Most of you already know about the Hypertherm® True Hole™ and Kjellberg® Contour Cut technologies. During plasma cutting, these technologies for mild steel produce significantly better hole quality than what has been previously possible using plasma. Equally important, these technologies are delivered automatically without operator intervention, to produce an unmatched hole quality.

Voortman now offers the new SigmaNEST X1 on all plate processing machines

SigmaNEST is a nesting software used for plate processing machines. Because of our close partnership with SigmaNEST, Voortman now offers the new SigmaNEST X1 on all plate processing machines. This new release of the sheet and plate CAD/CAM system offers improved functionality for CNC punching, laser cutting, and plasma cutting machines. Next to this the new SigmaNEST X1 helps you nest more complex geometry, work with parts more efficiently, and navigate jobs more effectively. High productivity means shorter cycle times, less manpower needed, and minimal scrap. All three impact the bottom line significantly. As technology and machinery in manufacturing becomes more intuitive and sophisticated, it only makes sense that your processes should too.

The added value of Industry 4.0 in steel processing

For about two years now, ‘Industry 4.0’ is being referred to by a lot of experts in the manufacturing industry. But what does it mean exactly and, more importantly, what is its added value for you?
