Highlight project: MWA | the road to a one-stop shop
MWA | Smart Steel Solutions
MWA invested in a Voortman V304 plasma cutting system and a Voortman V310 cutting and drilling system to become a one-stop shop.
MWA | Smart Steel Solutions, located in Vaassen, in the middle of the Netherlands, is a Steel Service Center, supplying OEMs and Steel Fabricators all over the Netherlands. The company has invested in, among other things, a Voortman V304 plasma cutting system and a Voortman V310 cutting and drilling system to become a one-stop shop for their customers. Where MWA previously focused on mainly plasma and oxy-fuel cutting, the company has invested in additional processes such as drilling, countersinking, thread tapping, counter boring, countersinking and laser cutting to be able to offer and produce a customer’s entire inquiry instead of only a part of it.
The machine installed has a 29 meter bed with overlapping working areas so plates can be loaded and unloaded during processing and workload can be buffered for a period of automatic running. The bed also allows for processing long parts up to 16 meters.
Improve quality
The machine is capable of cutting all kinds of materials such as mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum and is equipped with the latest technology for plasma cutting - the XPR300 plasma source from Hypertherm. Technologies such as the Dross Inhibitor and Xtensive Hole Performance further improve the quality of the delivered products and ensured that MWA made another leap forward in plasma cutting quality.
Optimize workflows
In addition to becoming a one-stop shop, MWA has also invested in software solutions to optimize their workflows. The core of their software modules is the SigmaNEST nesting software which optimizes material yield and reduces nesting production time. Additionally, they have invested in modules such as SigmaQuote to speed up their quoting process. Looking toward the future, more software improvements lie ahead to further improve processes and keep their main promise of “Delivering quality on time”.
