When weld preparations are necessary in thicker mild steel plasma is not always an option.
The oxy-fuel torch is fitted with proportional gas valves which automatically control the gas flow for automatic pre-heating, piercing and cutting. The gas mix is selected based on the thickness and nozzle size from parameters stored in the VACAM operating software. Pressure and gas flow can be controlled from the VACAM control panel so even heavy parts are easy to produce. The flame ignites automatically so no manual proceedings are required to start the cutting flame. It is possible to interrupt the pre-heating process and start cutting immediately by using the control panel. An automatic height console controls the height of the oxy-fuel cutting torch with a capacitive sensor during pre-heating, piercing and cutting.
Bevel cuts in thicker material can be made with the oxy-fuel triple bevel cutting unit. It consists of three torches of which the outer torches can be positioned under an angle up to 45°. The oxy triple bevel torch is capable of producing straight line weld preparations in X and Y directions. Because the oxy-fuel triple bevel torch has three torches it can produce an X, Y, K and V bevel in a single pass where the oxy-fuel straight torch needs multiple cuts for creating X, Y and K bevels. Strip cutting can be done with multiple oxy-fuel or plasma torches but also with an oxy-fuel strip cutting unit. The oxy-fuel strip cutting unit consists of three torches of which the outer torches can be adjusted in the Y direction to set the strip width. The strip cutting unit enables torches to cut strips from 50 mm (2”) wide up to 280 mm (11”) wide. The outer torches are quick and easy movable and can be manually set to the right distance with help of the ruler on the front. The torches are equipped with hoses with quick connections so the outer torches can easily be removed. Cutting with a single torch, or separate use of the torches is possible by shutting off the other torches by an adjustable valve.
